News from Academic Affairs

by Dr. Eric Pellegrino
Vice President, Academic Affairs

My goal, as Vice President for Academic Affairs, is to elevate the academic image of the College above the level of luster it has earned and deserves, both internally and externally, by reaching out to the campus community to embellish our role as a College.
As a College, we have the promise of a birght future as well as more than ample opportunities and challenges. Preserving this promise will require diligence in measuring expectations against reality and leveraging the cadre of talent that exists among faculty, staff, and students.

To this end, in Academic Affairs, we have:

   - Streamlined recruiting and hiring protocols for both full-time and adjunct faculty
   - Re-defined the role of program advisory committees
   - Bolstered the existing role of Division Chairs to include authority corresponding
      with their level of responsibility
   - Redesigned the developmental process to address urgent student needs and
      embellish student strengths
   - Strengthened the faculty governance process by involving departments and
Division Chairs in greater dialogue, both vertically and horizontally, in
academic matters particularly in the tenure, academic standards, and
      curriculum review processes
   -  Created a dialogue to initiate a right-to-know notification process based on
FERPA to ensure safety of the campus community
   - Initiated a dialogue to expand both credit and non-credit offerings in the evenings,
on weekends, and in the summer to make more effective use of campus facilities
and to generate additional revenue streams
   - Emphasized consistency in course outcomes, course outlines, and course syllabi
