Withdrawal Policy for Financial Aid Recipients

Any student who withdraws from school must go to the Registrar’s Office and complete the proper paperwork to be officially withdrawn. For those students who received Title IV Financial Aid and who have withdrawn from the College: federal regulations require that the college must calculate the percentage and amount of Title IV assistance the student did not earn as of the student’s official withdrawal date. (Title IV Financial Aid is federal aid that includes Federal Pell Grants, Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans, and PLUS loans.)

For those students who do not notify the institution of the intent to withdraw, the last recorded date of attendance will be used. Unearned funds must be returned by the institution or the student or both to the appropriate financial aid program in the following specified order: unsubsidized federal Stafford loans, subsidized federal Stafford loans, Federal Pell Grants.

The exact provisions of this regulation are available in the Financial Aid Office, Room 106, Hartzell Building. PHEAA State Grant refunds will be calculated according to the Thaddeus Stevens institutional grant refund policy and appropriate amounts will be returned to PHEAA.

Students who want to retain state grant eligibility for the future may request that the entire semester grant be returned to PHEAA.
