Pass/Fail Policy
If students would like to take courses for reasons of academic interest or curiosity—courses that are not required—they may do so on a pass/fail basis. Instructors will regulate which of their courses will or will not be offered pass/fail. Non-degree seeking students are allowed to take courses pass/fail on an individual basis.

Some courses may always be offered pass/fail rather than awarding a percentage grade. These courses will be designated in the catalog as such and would not be regulated by thePass/Fail Eligibility but would follow the Pass/Fail Guidelines.

Pass/Fail Guidelines:
1. A passing grade will be awarded to students with a D- or better in the class.
2. Credits earned on a pass/fail basis will not be averaged in a student’s grade point average. (See below for more informationabout grade point averages.)
3. Credits failed in a pass/fail course will be averaged as an “F” with grade points 0.00.
4. Students may not apply the credits towards graduation requirements.
5. Students who submit grades to funding agencies, other academic programs, or employers should consult the appropriate offices before electing the pass/fail option.
6. Students must submit completed pass/fail request form to the Registrar prior to the withdrawal deadline.
7. To change the pass/fail status of a course, students must notify their advisor and the Registrar prior to the withdrawal deadline.

Pass/Fail Eligibility:
The following guidelines must be met before students can take a course pass/fail. Students must:
1. Have sophomore standing.
2. Have met all the requirements in their model schedule up to the semester in
question.
3. Have a minimum GPA of 2.75 and their
advisors’ consent.
4. Not be on probation for any reason.
